The Rain forests of Borneo
By Ryan Snowden • Sep 11th, 2008 • Category: Articles, BorneoBorneo, never been there… but if ever get a chance to go… oh enough with the “but if’s”, the answer to the article title is YES!. What attracts me most might be the wild nature there… recently read an article on City Weekend, describing borneo as
“one of the few remaining areas of large-scale original forest in South-east Asia”. “
“Original forest” - it just seems that anything that links with “original” can just makes me want to explore!
There is a saying that if you drink the water from the waterfalls, good luck may follow you. Though I don’t know how true the saying is, I am indeed drinking water from every waterfall I see. There are many waterfalls in the Borneo rain forest and not only waterfalls, “natural Jacuzzis and the spooky burial grounds of nomadic tribes” can be found there too.
“Borneo boasts an incredible mix of biodiversity, cultures, languages and people”
Biodiversity in a wild environment, oh yes please. If what it says are all true in the Borneo rain forest, like the “the endangered orangutan, Asian elephant, clouded leopard or the extremely rare Sumatran rhinoceros” I sure can’t resist such temptation. If someone can take a photo of me on a leopard (squash!), then my life has no regrets.
